[Four doesn't seem to take it as a joke either, not that he does with anything. He certainly isn't working anymore, though, instead softly observing Aether.]
[While he doesn't think the question is unreasonable, it makes him lapse in silence at first. Eventually, he calmly responds:]
The spaceship we arrived in crashed and when we tried to escape Teyvat, we were caught by an unknown god and imprisoned. I woke up 500 years later and my sister was nowhere to be found.
[So it wasn't really his choice, not at first.]
But... as I travelled through the world I discovered many beautiful places and met many amazing people...
[After saying that, Aether falls silent once more.
His journey wasn't easy: it was lonely. He got forced into helping many times, sometimes receiving not even a small "thank you" in return, following leads that got him nowhere, trying to find his sister who refused to tell him the entire truth.
And yet... He presses a hand over his heart. He has so many memories that fill his chest with warmth. His expressions softens when he thinks about it.]
[Four is quiet as Aether talks. It's a lot to take in, Aether's story, but he's glad to know it--that Aether wants to tell it to him. It's hard for him not to attach meaning to that, to cling maybe delusionally to the feeling it gives him. Aether keeps saying he's happy he met Four, too. It would be nice to think he could be included in Aether's reminiscences someday.]
You never did tell me about your sister. Back when you said you remembered more about her.
[That makes Aether look back at the other, eyes somewhat big as if suddenly realising something important.]
R-right... sorry. [He sighs.] My sister is my twin and after we were separated, I was looking everywhere for her. But... [His expression dims further.] It turned out she's now a member of some shady organisation, trying to fight the gods of Teyvat for reasons I still don't fully understand.
[He presses a hand to his chest.]
What I remembered back then was meeting her in a strange space. I tried to change someone's fate... but to no avail and my own sister was doing everything in her power for the events to play out exactly as it was fated to be. She left and I could do nothing to save that person's life.
[His fingers dig into his shirt.]
But even so, my sister - Lumine - still means to me more than anything else. She's my only family. [The person who was always by his side.]

What was it about Teyvat that made you stay?
